Privacy Policy

Most of Breakaway can be used without an account. When you choose to sign in, save favorites, set preferences, or send feedback, you provide information directly to us.

Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider, Clerk. When you create an account or sign in with Apple, Google, or an email magic link, we process a Clerk account identifier and related authentication details needed to keep you signed in on your device.

Where your profile is displayed, we may show your name and the sign-in method you used. We do not receive or store your account passwords, and authentication tokens are kept in your device’s secure storage — they are never included in analytics.

If you save a rider, team, or race series, we store that favorite so it syncs across your devices. We also store app preferences, including your unit preference (such as miles or kilometres), so the app behaves the way you expect.

When you send feedback — a correction, a missing result, a technical issue, or an idea — we receive the subject and message you write, any context about the record you are reporting, and an email address only if you choose to provide one for a reply.

Feedback content is reviewed by Breakaway for corrections, support, and product improvement. Providing feedback never guarantees that a requested change will be published.

On the Breakaway website you can send us a message through our contact and support forms, or ask to be notified when Breakaway launches. When you contact or request support, we receive your name, your email address, and the subject and message you write, so we can respond. When you join the launch list, we receive your email address and use it only to let you know when Breakaway is available; we store it with our backend provider until you ask to be removed or the launch notification has been sent. You can ask us to remove your email from the launch list at any time.

To understand how the archive is used and to improve it, Breakaway collects anonymous and, for signed-in members, account-associated usage analytics. This includes screen views, search interaction metadata (such as how many characters were typed and how many results appeared — but not the raw text you searched for during this release), and events such as adding or removing a favorite, opening a share sheet, signing in, and network or offline state changes.

Analytics deliberately excludes sensitive content. We do not place feedback text, email addresses, authentication tokens, or magic-link URLs into analytics events.

For signed-in members, analytics is associated with your Clerk account identifier. For guests, it is associated with an anonymous installation identifier that is not tied to your name.

We process basic technical information needed to operate and diagnose the app, such as the app version, platform, and general device and diagnostic information collected by our analytics provider. Breakaway’s own code does not collect your precise IP address as an event property.

Breakaway publishes historical race and rider information — results, finishing positions, teams, dates, and related facts — as part of Belize’s sporting record. This material is presented for editorial and archival purposes and is distinct from your private account information.

We use the information above to provide and secure your account, sync your favorites and preferences, respond to and act on feedback, maintain and correct the historical archive, understand and improve how the app is used, and keep the service reliable.

Breakaway does not sell your personal information. We also do not use your private account information to alter historical race results — the archive is maintained on the basis of evidence, independent of individual accounts.

We may use or disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, enforce our Terms of Use, or protect the rights, safety, and integrity of Breakaway, its users, and the public.

We rely on a small number of trusted providers to operate Breakaway, including our authentication provider (Clerk), our database and backend provider, our analytics provider, and our transactional email provider (used to deliver contact and support messages). These providers process information on our behalf under their own terms and safeguards.

Breakaway does not currently show advertising. If we introduce advertising technology in the future, we will update this policy to describe it before it is activated.

We keep account-linked information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. Feedback and diagnostic information are retained for as long as they are useful for support, corrections, and product improvement, subject to legitimate legal and operational needs.

You may request deletion of your account. Deleting your account removes or de-identifies the private, account-linked information we hold about you, subject to legitimate retention requirements.

Public cycling records may remain in the archive even after an account is deleted, because those historical records are separate from your private account data and are preserved as part of the sporting record.

You can browse Breakaway without signing in, add or remove favorites at any time, and change your app preferences. You can contact us with any privacy request using Send Feedback.

Breakaway is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us so we can address it.

Breakaway and its service providers may process and store information in countries other than your own. Where we do, we take steps intended to protect your information consistent with this policy.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information, including secure storage of authentication credentials on your device. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.

We may update this policy as Breakaway evolves. When we make material changes, we will revise the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Notably, we will update this policy before activating any advertising technology.
